Breaking News: Phil Gramm Gone with the Wind...

Phil Gramm is "Gone with the Wind". AP is reporting that the former Texas Senator and former Texas A&M economist Professor Phil Gramm resigned from McCain's campaign as his top Economic advisor and Campaign Co-Chairman. This happened after he complained that "United States had become a nation of whiners.."..what a way to frame Americans when they are suffering from the current economic downturn..Gramm-onomics got us Enron. Gramm was one of five co-sponsors of the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000, which was responsible for the Enron scam. Coincidently, Gramm's wife was on Enron's board of directors at that time.

Goodbye Dr. Phil, please enjoy your mental mansturbation..umm..sorry I think you heard me wrong..I meant meant "mental recession"..ah well...GBCW..

Phil Gramm, a top adviser to presidential candidate John McCain, is resigning from the role as campaign co-chairman after his comments that the United States had become a "nation of whiners" who constantly complain about the state of the economy.

The former U.S. senator from Texas and past presidential candidate made the remarks earlier this month. McCain immediately distanced himself from the comments, but they have been criticized constantly as McCain tries to show he can help steer the country past its current financial troubles.

Gramm had also suggested that the country was facing a "mental recession" instead of real economic problems. Gramm said in a statement late Friday that he is stepping down as a co-chair of the campaign to "end this distraction."

Re: Breaking News: Phil Gramm Gone (2.00 / 1)

Too bad.  I thought we could get some great ads up on Gramm.

by Spanky on Fri Jul 18, 2008 at 08:59:18 PM EST

yeah..we can still make the ads about (none / 0)

McCain-omics. Only Gramm's comments would be couple amongst many of McCain gems like "The issue of economics is not something I've understood as well as I should."

Phil Gramm Gone with the Whine (2.00 / 2)

I bet Phil's off somewhere whining himself to death because he made himself have to resign by whining about whiners.  It's a vicious circle, once it gets started.

On a completely different note (2.00 / 1)

Has anyone else noticed the similarities in the speaking voice of Phil Gramm and Tom Hanks as Forrest Gump?

Re: Breaking News: Phil Gramm Gone (2.00 / 1)

Wow, this is great news. Some news sources were touting Gramm as the next Republican Treasury Secretary. Can you imagine?

Re: I'm so glad he is gone. But we cannot afford (2.00 / 1)

Oh, HELL no, we can't afford it- McCain seems right on track to finish the job destroying government that Bush started. I was just appalled at the thought that McCain thinks one of the principles responsible for the current mess the economy is in should be our Treasury Secretary. That kind of judgement (actually, lack of judgement) should get no where near the presidency.
